IDW In-Die Welding Technology

The OCON In-Die welding system allows welding spots and almost any fastener inside a die during the stamping process. It is a modular concept, and the main components can be used with all the dies.

The system is divided into the following parts:

Welding Kit Complete:

All the devices assembled in a die or tool

The kit is made up of:

  • Welding head: It is the head that welds the fastener (or spot) in the die. The type of welding head is designed according to the fastener drawings provided by the customer. It runs up to 45 strokes per minute (depend on the fastener). For example, a M8 square nut DIN 928 runs at 40 strokes per minute.

  • Shooting unit: It is a special unit designed by OCON, assembled in the blank holder, that buffers fasteners and pushed them one by one inside the welding head with every press stroke.

  • Transformer + Multiconnector: The weld transformer is built in-die, and it is coming with a multiconnector for the welding cabinet with power, control signals, cooling water and air (easy plug + unplug.

Secondary bars: All the copper bars needed for the current. It has also a special connection to bring up the current from lower to upper side without cables.
